Isotretinoin (Accutane): A Dangerous Molecule for Babies
Acne medication can be surprisingly potent. Isotretinoin is a "teratogen"—meaning it causes severe birth defects.
Why the Ban?
If your blood is transfused into a pregnant woman (even early pregnancy), the medication in your plasma could harm the developing fetus. The defects can be catastrophic (brain/heart abnormalities).
The Waiting Period
You must wait 1 month after your last dose. By then, the drug has completely cleared your system.
