India is the diabetes capital of the world. Can diabetics donate? Mostly, Yes.

Type 2 (Tablets/Lifestyle)

If your sugar is under control with diet or oral reformin, you are Eligible. Just eat a good snack before coming!

Type 1 (Insulin)

If you take Insulin, you are generally Deferred.
Reason: Changes in your eating/schedule during donation could trigger hypoglycemia (low sugar) for you. Also, historically, bovine insulin posed risks (though modern insulin is synthetic).
