Epilepsy and Seizures: The 3-Year Rule

Epilepsy: Safety First

The sight of blood or the needle pinch can trigger a vasovagal reaction (fainting). For someone with epilepsy, this stress could trigger a seizure.

The 3-Year Rule

To ensure your safety on the donor chair, you must be off medication and seizure-free for 3 years. This is a strict guideline in India.

If you are currently on anticonvulsants, you cannot donate, as these drugs can affect the recipient (especially newborns).
