Hepatitis (Liver inflammation) is a major concern for blood safety.
Hepatitis A (Jaundice)
Usually food-borne. If you had it before age 11, we assume you are cured and immune. Eligible. If you had it as an adult, wait 1 year.
Hepatitis B & C
Blood-borne and dangerous. Any history of Hep B or Hep C infection results in a Permanent Deferral. Even if you are "cured", the risk is too high.
Living with a Hep B carrier? You must wait 12 months after your last close contact.
