High Cholesterol: Good News for Donors
Can you donate 'fatty' blood? Generally, Yes.
Lipids and Donation
High cholesterol/triglycerides in the donor do not harm the recipient. The processing centers actually skim off the plasma, which might be milky (lipemic) if levels are extremely high, but the Red Cells are still valuable.
Statins
Taking cholesterol-lowering drugs (Statins like Atorvastatin) is NOT a barrier. You can donate as long as you have no other heart conditions (like angina or history of heart attack).
