HIV & High Risk: The Non-Negotiables

Safety is our obsession. There are some lines we cannot cross, and HIV risk is one of them.

The Window Period

Even the most advanced NAT (Nucleic Acid Testing) has a "window period" of 7-10 days where HIV is invisible. If a donor engaged in high-risk behavior yesterday, the test might miss it today.

Permanent Deferral

Anyone with a history of HIV, or anyone who has ever injected recreational drugs, is permanently deferred. This is not judgment; it is biological security for the recipient.
