Blood Type Genetics: How It Works
Ever wondered why you are O Positive while your parents are A and B? It's all high school biology.
The ABO System
You inherit one gene from your mother and one from your father.
- A and B are dominant genes.
- O is recessive.
Combinations
Examples:
- Parent A (AO) + Parent B (BO) = Can result in child being A, B, AB, or O!
- Parent O (OO) + Parent O (OO) = Child will ALWAYS be O.
- Parent AB + Parent O = Child can be A or B, but never O.
This genetic puzzle ensures diversity in the human population, which is essential for survival—but makes finding rare matches a challenge!
