Low Blood Pressure: The Fainting Risk

Low Blood Pressure: The Fainting Risk

Low Blood Pressure: The Faint Factor

We check your BP before every donation. High is bad, but Low is risky.

The Limit

Your Systolic (top number) must be at least 90-100 mmHg. Your Diastolic (bottom) should be at least 50-60 mmHg.

Why?

Donating instantly drops your blood volume. If you start with low pressure, you will almost certainly faint (Syncope). This risks injury from falling. If you tend to have low BP, drink salty chaas or Gatorade before coming!
