Men vs Women: Understanding the Donation Gap

In most countries, men donate blood more frequently than women. This isn't about willingness; it's about biology and safety.

The Iron Gap

Women of reproductive age lose iron monthly during menstruation. This makes it harder to maintain the minimum hemoglobin level of 12.5 g/dL required for donation.

Frequency Limits

  • Men: Can donate every 3 months (4 times a year).
  • Women: Can donate every 4 months (3 times a year).

This extra month gives women's bodies more time to replenish iron stores, preventing anemia. We prioritize donor health above all else.
