Steroids: The Good, The Bad, and The Deferral

There are two very different types of "steroids" in medicine.

1. Anabolic Steroids (Bodybuilding)

Unprescribed, injected steroids are a major red flag. They are often linked to needle sharing and high-risk behavior. This generally leads to a Permanent Deferral in India.

2. Corticosteroids (Asthma/Inflammation)

Prednisone or hydrocortisone prescribed by a doctor for an allergy or rash? You usually just need to wait 7 days after your last dose. Inhaled steroids (pumps) have NO waiting period.
