Thyroid Disorders: The Hidden Rules
Thyroid issues are common in India. Many patients assume they are permanently banned from donating. The good news: You're probably eligible.
Hypothyroidism (Underactive)
If you take medication (like Thyronorm/Eltroxin) and your TSH levels are stable, YOU CAN DONATE. The medication itself is not harmful to the recipient.
Hyperthyroidism (Overactive)
This is trickier. If you are taking anti-thyroid drugs (like Methimazole) or have active symptoms (tremors, palpitations), you are deferred until treatment is complete and you are stable.
